October 2013 Students of the Month
Description of the award: Awarded to a WTHS student who has shown tremendous academic achievement in the classroom.
Who can be nominated: Any WTHS student, grades 9-12. (1 winner from each grade per month – 4 total)
How the award winner is chosen: Each month, WTHS will honor a student from each grade level for their tremendous academic achievement in the classroom. Selections will rotate among the school’s various departments from month to month. Only 32 students earn "Student of the Month" accolades each school year, with four individuals honored each month from October through May . A student may be selected for this prestigious honor only once in his/her career at WTHS.
"Patricia is an excellent student who exhibits great enthusiasm and concern for others. She is also an active member of FBLA and the Key Club Blood Drive" - Mrs. Pisauro

"Rebecca is a leader inside and outside of the classroom. She earned the award for the highest GPA in the German program at William Tennent High School, and she is also the captain of the Color guard and various other clubs at Tennent." - Frau Friedle - German Teacher - World Language Department

Description of the award: Awarded to WTHS student who has shown tremendous work ethic, improvement, creativity, character, community service or achievement at WTHS or in the community.
Who can be nominated: Any WTHS student, grades 9-12. (1 winners per grade = 4 total)
How the award winner is chosen: Students and/or faculty members nominate students for the award. One award winner will be chosen from each grade level (Total of 4). In order to be placed in consideration, an explanation of why the nominee is deserving of the award is required. A student cannot win the award more than once per year.
"Sarah is an intelligent, hard working student who takes the time to do quality work. She goes above and beyond in an effort to help her fellow students on a daily basis." - Ms. Dale - Tennent Science Department
"Madison's positive attitude and attention to detail is unmatched. Madison has also been featured in Scholastic Magazine for rescuing her grandfather from drowning this summer. This act of kindness and heroism is further validation of the kind of person that Madison is." - Mr. Shapiro - Tennent Physical Education Dept.
"Cassie is a conscientious and mature student. She is also a member of the high successful Tennent Volleyball team and a member of the student government as well." - Mr. Senske - Tennent Math Department
"Cassie Baner, Kyle Gresh, and Katie Woeger organized the “Pink Out,” which raised $1000 to donate to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation for Cancer Research." - Mr. Cattaro - Tennent Business Department

Description of the award: Awarded to a staff member who has made a positive impact on students or faculty or has made a positive contribution to the community.
Who can be nominated?: A teacher, administrator, coach, or member of the WTHS staff.
How the award winner is chosen: Students nominate staff for the award. In order to be placed in consideration, an explanation of why the nominee is deserving of the award is required. A staff member cannot win the award more than once per year.
